Mumbai girls and Mumbai Rains…..nice read…. We never thought  this title would take such meaning  in our lives.Sitting in that classroom on a rainy afternoon  ,we never imagined life would have similar plans for the three of us. Now, five years hence…..we are again in the same classroom….this time though on our own….a new beginning….apprehensions that we had five years back…..it all seems like history is  repeating itself….
Little did we know that our friendship would take us this far....from flying Boeings to frying bhaturas the journey has been unforgettable....From airhostesses to homemakers,the transition has been lovely.
All of us at some point in our lives think of penning down our ideas,tapping our creativity and unleashing our potential to the fullest.
After toying with the idea of blogging for a couple of months, our blog finally sees the light of the day.
So what is it that makes 'knowitritehere' different from every other blog out there?
Our very own ideas,beliefs,traditions,culture may be....And if we have a platform to share the same,don't you think our lives could change for the better...even if it has very little impact on our lives....Thanks to the cutting edge tech...we are able to express ourselves and learn constantly.
Here we have shared our own little ideas which we hope will bring a difference in your lives.We present here an array of ideas from recipes to home remedies,entertainment to crafts.

Egg masala curry



Ingredients :
Eggs (6)
onion (1)
ginger ( 1small piece )
garlic ( 4-5 cloves )
dry coconut powder ( 1 spoon )
tomato ( 1 )
salt
deghi mirch powder ( 1 spoon )
turmeric ( 1/2 tea spoon )
dry red chillies ( 3 )
coriander seeds ( 1 spoon )
cinnamon stick ( 1 inch )
black pepper corns ( 4 -5 )
oil ( 4 spoons )
bay leaves ( 2-3 )
coriander for garnishing .


Recipe :
Dry roast coriander seeds,black pepper corns and cinnamon stick and keep it aside.
boil eggs for 10 to 12 min, once it cools down remove shell and cut eggs in to half.
now take one spoon of oil and let it become hot ,add sliced onion .
let onion fry till it becomes golden brown in color , add ginger and garlic.
roast it for a while, add turmeric, dry coconut and chopped tomato .
cover it with  lid on it for 2 min. now stir this mixture well till tomato gets cooked properly and it gets
mashed .turn off the heat .let the mixture cool down a bit.
Meanwhile soak dry red chillies in a hot water for may be 5 min.
now grind dry roasted coriander seeds,black pepper corns and cinnamon stick , soaked chilles with cooked onion tomato mixture.make a paste .
On a low flame heat 3 spoons of oil add bay leaves and onion tomato paste in it .
add deghi mirch power and salt as per taste .
allow this mixture cook well on a low flame till oil starts to ooze out.
once you see nice red color and oil coming out of the gravy,add one cup of water .
let this gravy come to boil , now add half cut boiled eggs to it .cook for 3-4 min.
garnish your egg gravy with coriander.
Egg curry is ready to be served with roti ,naan or rice !!!!

                                                                         Paneer Bhurji


       Ingredients:Grated Paneer (2 cups)
                         1 finely chopped onion
                          finely chopped chillies 2-3
                          1 chopped tomato
                          oil 2-3 tsp
                          cumin seeds
                          turmeric pwdr
                          red chilli pwdr
                          corriander pwdr
                          cumin pwdr
                          ginger-garlic paste
                          garam masala
                          salt(as per taste)
                          corriander leaves for garnishing.

       Recipe:
                   In a pan,heat some oil and add cumin seeds.let them fry and then add chopped chillies.
                  Now add chopped onions.Let the onions fry for a while.
                  Here you can add ginger-garlic paste.After the paste leaves the raw smell,  add tomatoes.
                  At this stage we add all the spices i.e(turmeric,chilli,corriander ,cumin and garam masala).
                  Saute the mixture and wait till the oil leaves the sides.
                  Now add grated paneer and salt. Let it cook for 5 minutes.The dish is ready to be served!
                  Garnish it with corriander leaves.

                                                                         Palak Paneer






  Ingredients: spinach(fresh or frozen)approx 200g
2 bay leaves
1 cinnamon stick (optional)
2-3 garlic cloves(optional)
                    2-3 tsp oil
                    cumin seeds
                    Onion paste( 1 big onion)
                    tomato puree( 1 tomato)
                    Ginger-garlic paste
                    2-3 green chillies
                    turmeric powder
                    corriander powder
                    garam masala
                   1 tsp kasoori methi leaves
                   cubes of paneer(you can use half a slab of Nanak paneer)
                   Salt (as per taste)

  Recipe :
               Firstly,get the spinach blanched.Blanche it in little water for abt 2-3 min.Retain the water.
               Allow it to cool down a bit and then grind the spinach and green chillies.(here if you like,you can
          add some garlic cloves)
               Take a pan and heat the oil.Let the bay leaves get fried for a while,then add Cumin seeds.
               Put the onion paste into it.Saute the onion paste and add the ginger-garlic paste.
After the paste leaves the raw smell,we add turmeric,corriander powder and garam masala.
               Let these ingredients get sauted nicely till the oil leaves the sides.
               We now add the spinach in to the mixture.Here we also add the retained water which was used to
              blanche the spinach(By doing this we are retaining its nutritional value)
We can now add the kasoori methi leaves.
Let the spinach cook for about 7-10 minutes.
               Lastly add the cut cubes of paneer.(here i have not fried the paneer.its optional)
               Our Palak Paneer is now ready to be served with rotis or naan!

Methi sabji



Ingredients : Methi leaves ( 4 cup )
                   onion (one big)
                   garlic ( 5-6 cloves )
                   coconut ( fresh grated 2 spoons )
                   green chili ( 4-5)
                   oil ( 1 spoon )
                   sugar ( half a tea spoon )
                   salt to taste

Recipe : First very important step is wash methi leaves .
              now let it dry for 30 min ,letting methi dry till all water drains out will allow not to make sabji watery.
              chop onion , garlic .methi .
              do not cut green chilies in to small,just make a slit on it.
              heat oil and put garlic , green chilies ,add onion
              let onion fry till in becomes translucent and add methi  ,mix well.
              add salt as per taste.
              once methi reduces its volume and cooks, add coconut .
              stir properly and cook it over low flame for 2 min .
              sprinkle half tea spoon sugar .
              simple and tasty methi sabji is ready .

Paneer tikka masala..


Ingredients: Paneer (NanakPaneer is good)
                  Half and Half milk ( 2cups)

                  Whole garam masala ( 4-5 cloves,4-5 black pepper , 1-2 sticks of cardamom,bay leaf

                   whole red chillies)          
                  turmeric 
                  red chilli powder as per taste
                  ground garam masala powder
                  Paneer tikka masala ( any brand dry spice power 1 packet ,you can use chicken tikka   masala               also.)
                  tomato puree 2 table spoons 
                  butter
                  regular milk ( 1cup )

Recipe   :  First cut Paneer in to small cubes and fry it without oil in non stick pan .
                 Add some butter in pan and put all whole garam masala ,mix well.
                 Add chili powder , whole red chilies , salt , turmeric .
                 Add tomato Puree and let it cook well for 5 min till oil starts to come out of gravy .
                 Meanwhile take 2 cups of half and half add dry paneer tikka masala and mix well.
                 Once tomato puree is cooked add half and half milk which is kept ready with paneer
                 tikka masala in it.
                 Let it cook on a low flame for 5 min .Add 1 cup of regular milk to make thin gravy
                 as per taste .
                 finally add roasted panner cubes in it .
                 Cook for another 5 min and Paneer tikka masala is ready !!!!

Moong Dahi Puri chat !!!



 Ingredients : Puri ( which are used for panipuri )
                   Dahi ( 1cup )
                   Moong ( 1cup use sprouted if possible )
                   potato (  one boiled )
                   onion  ( one finally chopped )
                   coriander for garnishing
                   chat masala ( as per taste )
                   salt
                   red chili powder ( pinch )
                   sugar ( 3-4 spoons )
                   date and tamarind sweet chatni ( use Deep product or you can make it at home also )
                   chili coriander paste
                   sev.( fine which is used for bhel.)


Recipe :      Take sprouted moong and cook it for 3-4 min in a pressure cooker without a whistle on,
                  with half cup water in it . add pinch of salt also.
                  boil one potato and mash it after peeling the skin .
                  take dahi in a large bowl and whisk it well add 3 spoon sugar .
                  Now keep chopped onion,mashed potato,dahi,chat masala ,red chili powder,chopped coriander,
                  date & tamarind chatni ,chili coriander paste ready .
                  Make a wide whole in Puri and arrange 5-6 puries on plate.
                  Now in each Puri add small amout of moong ,potato.chili paste,date-tamarind chatni ,onions,
                  chat masala,pinch od chili powder .
                  Pour dahi over puries as per your taste .
                  sprinkle sev over each puri and finally garnish it with coriander.Dahi puri is ready !!!

Milk made coconut rava ladoo



Contents  :     Milk made (one tin : condensed Milk )
                     Grated coconut (one coconut or one packet of grated coconut)
                     Rava ( suji one cup)
                     Dry fruits (as per liking
                     Ghee ( 4 spoons )
                     Sugar ( 8 spoons or as per taste)

Recipe      :  First add ghee in a pan when pan is hot.
                   Add dry fruits and sauté them .
                   Add rava and roast it till you get nice aroma from it (don’t let it burn )
                   Add coconut and stir will till coconut loses its own water .
                   Once the coconut is done add milk made in it .
                   Let the milk evaporate and let the mixture become little thick.
                   Finally add sugar and mix well.
                  Once sugar is mixed well take it out of flame .
                  Let it cool for a while ,and make small ladoo when its warm enough   !!!

Making of lantern !!



Lantern making is a fun craft which you can make to decorate your home during Diwali festival .

Material  :
Construction paper
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Glue, glitter, sequins, if desired to decorate your lantern.

Let’s start making lantern now.Follow simple steps to create your own fun paper lantern .

·          Take construction paper and fold it half where one corner meets the other corner of paper lengthwise.
·          Draw one inch line on folded loose ends of paper opposite to folded end.
·          Now on the folded edge mark half –half inch point till the end.
·        It’s time to use scissor.Using a scissor cut from folded edge point and stop where you see the line which we have marked before at loose ends of paper.
·         After cutting from all half inch pointers open the paper.
·         Now refold it from opposite side of paper same way we did earlier.
·         Match the long edges together on the paper.
·         Now stick both the edges with glue.
·         Cut one inch strip to use as a handle of lantern and stick it on top of the lantern making upside down U shape.
·         Decorate your lantern with glitter or sequins.
